MAKIO
MAKIO is a GLASSHALF project for building customizable MIDI controllers and pedalboard systems with widely available development boards.
It is a practical platform rather than a single finished device. Choose a starting board, connect the I/O and controls your setup needs, give it a physical form, and run firmware you can understand and continue to adapt.
HOW MAKIO IS COMPOSED
BOARD
The available development board that gives a build its display and processing foundation.
I/O
MIDI, USB and the connections needed for a particular setup.
CONTROLS
Switches, encoders, touch and other inputs arranged around the way you play.
ENCLOSURE
The physical structure that holds, protects and makes the build usable underfoot or by hand.
FIRMWARE
The software layer that turns connected parts into one deliberate instrument.
MAKIO GRID
A clearer view of what matters while you play.
MAKIO GRID is an interface direction for organizing the status and controls that matter to each MAKIO product and connected device. Its layout, displayed information, controls, and synchronization behavior may vary with the product, connected equipment, firmware version, and verified compatibility scope; public release details will be finalized after validation.
01
FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS
Bring forward the information that supports the current performance context, without treating one layout as universal.
02
CONTROL SHAPED TO THE PRODUCT
Interaction patterns are selected for the MAKIO hardware and connected equipment being validated.
03
STATE WITHIN A VERIFIED SCOPE
Display and synchronization behavior are documented only after they are confirmed for a specific product and firmware release.
DIRECT CONTROL
Your phone becomes another MAKIO screen.
Open MAKIO’s built-in local web controls in your phone’s browser to view the current status and operate supported controls. No separate app is required.

DEFINE YOUR I/O
Decide what your own setup needs to connect and control before designing the enclosure.

MAKIO CORE
A large-format reference path for a screen-led control surface and expanded system work.
VIEW COREMAKIO MICRO
A compact reference path for a smaller, focused controller build.
